HRnest lets you control how employees track their working time. Choose from available time tracking modes and assign them based on your team’s needs to ensure accurate and consistent time records.
To get started, first choose which work time registration modes are available in your organization. Then, assign the right mode to each employee.
Here’s how to do it:
Choose available time tracking modes
Pick the time tracking modes that make sense for your organization. These will be the options you can assign to employees later — you can enable only the ones you actually need.
Step 1: Go to Configuration
In the side menu, select Configuration. Then navigate to Work time configuration and click Working time registration:
Step 2: Find work time registration settings
To set the time tracking method, click Change next to the Through the HRnest system option:
Step 3: Choose how work time is recorded
Pick the time tracking modes you want to use.
Available modes:
Selecting hours – employees choose their start and end times from a list
Start / Stop – time is recorded when employees click Start or Stop
Mark attendance – employees confirm presence, working time follows their schedule
Auto – time is recorded automatically based on the schedule or profile settings
Click Save to apply your changes. You can now assign these modes to employees in their profiles.
Assign modes to Employees
The assigned mode defines how an employee tracks working time in HRnest. It controls how they log time on the dashboard and whether they use the web app, QR codes, or both.
❗ If you don’t assign a mode manually, HRnest will automatically use the first mode from the list you selected earlier. This also applies to new employees.
Step 1: Open the Employee profile
From the main menu, go to Organization, then click on the Employee’s name to open their profile:
Step 2: Enable time tracking
In the Work time tab, make sure work time registration is enabled so the Employee can track their time:
Step 3: Configure settings
Click Edit, then set:
Work time register mode – how the Employee records working time
Work time register source – where they can log time from (web app, QR codes, or both)
❗ QR codes aren’t available in the Mark attendance mode.
Registration of work place (optional) – require the Employee to provide their work location when logging time
Click Save to apply your changes — you’re all set.
